Some Central Middle School students toppled any trepidation about their fear of public speaking during the First Annual Ignite Open House. QUEST students, who are part of the school's Gifted and Talented Program, presented their culminating projects on May 25.  This event was organized by the Central School Media Specialist Ms. Paugh.  For the conference, she challenged students to research a topic of their choice.  Students responded by exploring a wide range of subjects, including the importance of play, how the eyes are tricked by optical illusions, and the positives of procrastination. Most of the sixth graders focused on some aspect of the brain, such as how to improve learning or the unique features of the adolescent brain. As part of the project, children were provided with the option of presenting the information that they learned in a TED style talk or other presentation modes. During the conference, 14 presentations were made by individual students or collaborative teams.  QUEST students, parents, and teachers attended the event. "We are truly proud of how hard the students and staff worked to organize and prepare for this event.  We look forward to expanding this event in the future," said Principal Michael Viturello.
