About Us
Welcome to Central Middle School!
Central Middle School has served as a vital link between student’s elementary education and the transition to Watchung Hills Regional High School. Our school challenges students to strive for academic, social, and emotional development while building bonds that connect them to our school community. We aim to develop a firm respect for diversity within all aspects of school, while challenging and providing experiences that move beyond the classroom into young adulthood. We value an environment that is patient, understanding and maintains a vision to provide students with clear, attainable goals. We call upon students to embrace positive, life affirming opportunities in the search for self-identification and to take ownership for their decisions.
The staff of Central Middle School takes great pride in continuing the tradition of excellence in education that several generations of Long Hill residents have enjoyed. Our school takes pride in the development of diverse experiences for children of our community. We seek to create nurturing, learning environments that foster good character and critical, reflective thinking. Currently our district is working towards all three schools becoming Future Ready by earning a bronze certification.
Some examples of how we provide these opportunities are: 1 to 1 Chromebook initiative for all students in Grades 6 through 8, providing a STEAM Cycle Course for all students in Grades 6 through 8, Junior Solar Sprint Competition, hosing a Quest Inspire Video Conference Symposium, providing monthly new and exciting makerspace activities, working collaboratively with our Student Council, scheduling Morning Meeting for the entire school in which we implement the “Choose Love” program, and offering challenging placement courses in Mathematics, English Language Arts, and Science.
