About Us

​School starts at 8:15 a.m. and dismissal is at 2:45 p.m.

Morning arrival:

Morning drop off will be conducted in front of the school along Central Avenue. Please do no pull cars into the lots as they are used for busing. A staff member will be in front of the main gym doors at 7:45 and students will be allowed to enter the main gym at 8:00 a.m.. At approximately 8:15 students will be able to report to their lockers.

Dismissal:

Car pick up: If you choose to pick up your child by car please enter the northern driveway only after 2:45. Please do not pull directly into the main parking lot. Students are to gather in Main Gym hallway and will be escorted to the rear of the building by staff to be picked up by car. You may also pick up your child on Central Avenue if you choose.

Bus Students: Students that take the bus report directly to Main Gym exit doors after school to line up and board your buses. Staff will be there to assist with bus duty.

​Yes, middle school students will have a locker located close to their first period class. First period teachers will instruct students how to use it, provide combinations and allow for practice time. Students should not share their locker combinations. If you lose your combination or have trouble with your locker please see your first period teacher or the main office secretary for assistance.

​For safety, students will only be released to their parent/guardian or another adult listed as the emergency contact. If you need to pick up your child early you must notify the main office via phone call or send a note ahead of time. Your child must be signed out in the main office before they can leave the building.

​Yes, students will change for each physical education class. All students will be required to use a lock for their gym lockers which will be provided by Physical Education Staff. Instructions for attire and lockers be provided on the first day of physical education classes.

• A student must have a physical within 365 days prior to the first tryout or practice session. The Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation form must be completed and turned in to the school nurse by the season deadline date.
• The “Health History Update Questionnaire” must be completed by all parents/guardians within 60 days of the sport try out/start up date.

Both forms can be found on our Nurse Lauren Lozowski’s staff website. Upon completion the appropriate document(s) are to be returned to the nurse. Once approved and your child is on a team both the concussion and cardiac arrest forms must also be completed.

​Yes, to participate in a sport you must pay the team sports fee, maintain a grade of C - or higher, and earn an Effort and Conduct rating of satisfactory or above. If you fail to meet the the criteria on a report card, you will be removed from the athletic team. If you have frequent or serious disciplinary concerns it may also jeopardize your eligibility for a sport.

Electronic devices (cell phones, ipods, music players, handheld video games etc) are not allowed to be used in the school including the cafeteria. Only during a staff sanctioned activity are students allowed to use their own technology. If a child breaks the policy appropriate disciplinary actions may follow. Remember that if you bring in electronics and they are lost or stolen they are your responsibility.

If a student has such a device, it must be turned off (not just silenced) and stored in the student’s locker during the school day. If it is determined by a staff member that such a device is used during the school day, the device will be confiscated. The device will be held in the office until a parent or guardian retrieves it.

If you would like to see the school counselor for any reason (grades, scheduling concerns, conflict resolution, social concern, etc) you may ask your teacher to obtain a pass for the counselor, stop by the office, or complete a “Student Concerns Form”. This form can be found at the main office, counselor’s office, or from any classroom teacher.

​Yes, a staff member has the right to provide a consequence for rules or policies that are violated within their classroom. Additionally, if you violate a policy or rule a “Disciplinary Referral” can be submitted which is a report of the conduct. After the Disciplinary Referral is reviewed by administration a consequence or remediation may be assigned based on the infraction. Please see the handbook for specific rules, regulations, and policies.

​All students must sign out of their classroom and obtain a pass from a teacher prior to leaving. Every student that is in the hallway is required to have a pass. It is expected that all students act maturely and respectfully throughout the building and grounds. Additionally, backpacks and purses are prohibited in classrooms and hallways during the school day. Please place them in your locker at the beginning of the school day.

During lunch periods students are assigned to a teacher for half the period (20 minutes). During this time students are able to meet with teachers or complete their work or gain assistance in a class.

Our PTO organizes special lunch days at which any middle school student can participate in. Please see the PTO website for additional details.

​Between each class three minutes is scheduled for students to visit their locker and be seated in your next class period on time.

Central Middle School uses the website to email its "Daily Bulletin" and “Friday Flyers” to parents.
